The Sikles trek is an absolute gem. It is a moderate camping trek (a little bit up, little bit down, little bit flat!) that does not take you above 2800m but manages to provide incredible diversity. It takes you through pastoral landscapes, magnificent terraced fields, forests of rhododendrons and magnolias (flowering in March/ April) and the varied, picturesque villages of the Gurungs. The Gurungs are Buddhist people who have a unique and fascinating culture and Siklis and Parche are lovely villages where you can appreciate both the landscape and culture. And to top it off, the trek provides breath-taking views of the Annapurna range.
Being a shorter moderate trek, this is a great trek for those wanting great views without the altitude! We climb no higher than 2800m but still enjoy views of the entire Annapurna range including Lamjung Himal, Machhapucchare (Fish Tail) and other peaks. The shorter length, the combination of scenic and cultural highlights and the low altitude make this a particularly good trek for those with families. This trek can easily be combined with a trip to Chitwan, Bandipur or Nagarkot or a longer stay in Pokhara or Kathmandu. We can arrange all these excursions.
